{"id":5827,"date":"2023-12-21T07:03:22","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T07:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bandonac.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=5827"},"modified":"2024-02-18T19:13:59","modified_gmt":"2024-02-18T19:13:59","slug":"code-of-conduct","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.bandonac.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=5827","title":{"rendered":"CODE OF CONDUCT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* Athletes Code *<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3>Code of Conduct for Children and Young Athletes<\/h3>\n<div>Sport should be safe, fun and conducted in a spirit of fair play.<\/div>\n<div>As a young person you are entitled to the best possible environment to participate in sport.<\/div>\n<div>You deserve to be given enjoyable, safe sporting opportunities, free from abuse of any kind.<\/div>\n<div>You have rights, which must be respected, and responsibilities that you must accept.<\/div>\n<div>You should always treat other athletes and team leaders with fairness and respect.<\/div>\n<h3>You are entitled to:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Be safe and to feel safe<\/li>\n<li>Be listened to<\/li>\n<li>Be believed<\/li>\n<li>Be treated with dignity, sensitivity, and respect<\/li>\n<li>Have your voice heard in your sport<\/li>\n<li>Participate on an equal and non-discriminatory \u00a0basis<\/li>\n<li>Have fun and enjoy your sport<\/li>\n<li>Experience competition at a level at which you are happy<\/li>\n<li>Make complaints and have them dealt with<\/li>\n<li>Get help against those who bully<\/li>\n<li>Say No<\/li>\n<li>To protect your body<\/li>\n<li>Privacy and confidentiality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>You should always:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Treat all group or team members and your Sports Leaders with respect<\/li>\n<li>Act fairly and responsibly at all times, do your best<\/li>\n<li>Respect other group or team members<\/li>\n<li>Respect opponents and be gracious in defeat<\/li>\n<li>Abide by the rules as set out by the group or team you are with<\/li>\n<li>Support and assist where appropriate with the running of your group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>You should never:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Cheat or seek to gain an unfair advantage<\/li>\n<li>Intimidate, use violence or physical contact that is not welcome<\/li>\n<li>Shout at or argue with another person unreasonably<\/li>\n<li>Cause harm to or damage property<\/li>\n<li>Bully or threaten another person online or offline<\/li>\n<li>Take banned substances or consume alcohol or recreational drugs<\/li>\n<li>Spread or circulate rumours online or offline about another person<\/li>\n<li>Tell lies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h1>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* Coaches and Officials Code *<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Coaches, Officials and Volunteers Code of Conduct<\/p>\n<p>Sport should be safe, fun and conducted in a spirit of fair play<\/p>\n<h4><strong>All coaches, officials and volunteers in athletics should<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.<\/li>\n<li>Develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, based on mutual trust and respect.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and the experience of those taking part.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)<\/li>\n<li>Display consistently high standards of behaviour.<\/li>\n<li>Follow all guidelines laid down by the National Governing Body<\/li>\n<li>Hold appropriate qualifications and Athletics Ireland insurance cover.<\/li>\n<li>Never exert undue influence over participants to gain personal benefit or reward.<\/li>\n<li>Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage participants to value their performances and not just results.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.<\/li>\n<li>Never use foul or inappropriate language.<\/li>\n<li>Sports leaders or officials must never abuse their position of authority by engaging in any form of sexual relations with children or vulnerable adults.<\/li>\n<li>Do use a group email system for communicating with parents\/guardians &amp; coaches of athletes.<\/li>\n<li>Do not communicate individually by social media, text or email with juvenile athletes<\/li>\n<li>Do not engage in communications with underage athletes individually via personal social network sites.<\/li>\n<li>Always use official squad group text or social media sites to communicate with juvenile athletes.<\/li>\n<li>A coach should under no circumstance undermine the efforts of an athlete\u2019s personal coach and\/or attempt to \u2018poach\u2019 an athlete within a squad environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Coaches and leaders should never place themselves in a compromising position by texting or communicating via social media sites with juvenile athletes. All such communications regarding athletics should be sent via the parents or guardians of the athlete.<\/p>\n<h4>The following should apply when communicating with juvenile athletes:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Do use a club group text or email system for communicating with parents\/guardians of athletes.<\/li>\n<li>Do not communicate individually by text or email with juvenile athletes.<\/li>\n<li>Do not engage in communications with underage athletes via personal social network sites.<\/li>\n<li>Always use official club group text or social media sites to communicate with juvenile athletes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* Parents Code *<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.athleticsireland.ie\/downloads\/other\/code-of-conduct-for-parents-guardians2.pdf\">Parents Code of Conduct<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>Athletics should be safe, fun and conducted in a spirit of fair play<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.<\/li>\n<li>Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.<\/li>\n<li>Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.<\/li>\n<li>Never force your child to take part in sport.<\/li>\n<li>Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.<\/li>\n<li>Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.<\/li>\n<li>Publicly accept officials&#8217; judgments.<\/li>\n<li>Support your child&#8217;s involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.<\/li>\n<li>Use correct and proper language at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>AAI COMPLAINTS AND DISCIPLINARY PROCESS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.athleticsireland.ie\/downloads\/other\/AAI_Complaints_and_Disciplinary_Officer_and_Process_Board_approved_050220.pdf\">AAI_Complaints_and_Disciplinary_Officer_and_Process_Board_approved_050220.pdf (athleticsireland.ie)<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>* Athletes Code * Code of Conduct for Children and Young Athletes Sport should be safe, fun and conducted in a spirit of fair play.
