West Cork Cross Country results, Bandon Primary Schools XC, County Cross Country

\nA number of athletes from the Club made the trip to Dunmanway for the West Cork Athletics Cross Country Championships. Conditions on the day were perfect and the course at Droumleena Lawn home of the Showgrounds provides a good circuit, lacking only in a hill. The Mulcahy family brought home two gold medals \u2013 Gr\u00e1inne in the Girls U10 over 600m and Dad Pat won the Masters Men race over 6K. The boys U10 team of Fionn Harrington, Jack Calnan and Andrew O\u2019Leary won a bronze medal. Moira Barrett ran well to win a bronze U12 medal and the team also including Laura Nicholson and Aoife Riordan won silver team medals. Victor Lovell and Conor Calnan both ran strongly to finish first and second respectively at boys U12 level over a distance of 1,200m. Aaron Draper, Brian Riordan and Cyril Dineen completed the Bandon team which won gold. Ciara Houston won a silver medal in the girls U14 race over 1,200m and the team also consisting of Fiona Everard and Mari Dineen came second. David Laffan ran well in the boys U14 race doing a distance of 1,500m. Aisling Everard covered the same distance at U16 level and took the gold medal. \nThe Club is hosting the annual Primary Schools Cross Country event on Friday 17th September. This is open to all primary schools in the Bandon area and each has been contacted individually by the club already. It will be held in the Rugby Club at 11am sharp. There will be medals for the first 12 finishers in each race.
\nThe County Cross Country Championships kick off with the County Juvenile even age Championships which will be held in Conna at 1pm. The uneven age competition takes place the following Sunday 10th October in Carrig na bhFear also at 1pm. The County Novice, U23 and Masters Cross Country Championships take place in Carrig na bhFear on the same day. The Cork Women\u2019s Marathon will be held on Sunday 26th September.
