On Saturday 9th March a number of our athletes headed off at 7.00am to
compete in the Munster Indoor Multi-Events and Relay Championships in
Nenagh, in what was a hotly contested competition.
It was a very long day for our multi-event athletes with fantastic
performances from all and with some great outcomes. Most of them set new
personal bests, and some even more than one! These athletes showed
outstanding courage and ability in sprint/sprint hurdles, long jump, high
jump, shot putt and 800m in, for some, their first multi-events competition.
Well done to the following whose performances earned them medals in the
multi-events competition:-
Emily Palmer – 3rd U18
Carla Hicks – 2nd U15
Moira Barrett – 2nd U14
Aisling Cassidy – 3rd U13.
Other athletes that took part were: – (U12) Ellie O’Donovan, Sarah O’Connor,
Cora Ni Ghallchoir, Erin de Burka, Fionn Harrington, Andrew O’Leary, Jack
Payne. (U13) Leah Murphy, Grainne Mulcahy, Ella Stack, Paul Hartnett.
(U14) Ciara McKeon, Aoife Buckley, Laura Nicholson, Amy Mulcahy, Claire
Reilly, Niamh Calnan, Brian Riordan, Cian Kingston, Naoise NiFlaitheartaigh.
(U15) Eva Stack and Aoibh Cassidy.
The outing proved to be very beneficial in terms of experience for all the
athletes. Congratulations to all on a job well done, keep up the hard work
and determination.
All our relay teams performed very well on the day also. Again, this was a
first competition for a number of these athletes, and each and every one of
them did their club proud. Our Under 14 girls 4x200m team, consisting of
Ciara McKeon, Moira Barrett, Laura NIcholson and Aoife Buckley, have
qualified for the All-Ireland Championships on the 6th of April. Well done to all.
Thanks to all who travelled and our supporters. We can now look forward to another great track season.
