Club Anniversary

The club celebrated its 50th Anniversary on the 30th of January and the club marked the occasion with a celebration in the Lodge Bar.
A number of original and current members started the night with a brief moment of reflection at the site of the original meeting which was in the old Boys Club venue on North Main Street, they then progressed to the Lodge Bar where a large number of people joined in the celebrations.
Chairman Tom Laffan acted as master of ceremonies for the brief formalities introducing Mayor Of Bandon Deirdre Lane and Bill Allen who was representing both West Cork Athletics board as Chairman and also the Cork County Board in his position as Vice Chairman. Then Billy Good who was one of the original founding members and still very much involved in club activities on a daily basis reflected on the events which lead to the founding of the club and various key dates in the club history.
Billy was then joined by a number of other founding members to join in the cutting of the cake.
A great night was had by all who attended.

A book detailing the first 50 years of the club is currently in the final stages and will be published later in the summer.
