Ballinhassig 4 mile road race 17/03/2014

A total of 184 turned out for this year’s 4 mile road race ran on st Patrick’s day. The standard at the top seemed to be higher this year with a lot of fast times being recorded in both the men’s and woman’s race. Alan O’Shea, of Bantry AC was 1st over the line in a time of 19.59. Claire Gibbons-McCarthy of leevale won the woman’s race in a time of 21.59 on home ground and finished 8th overall. Bandon ac had a number of runners there on the day with Ronnie Barry finishing 3rd in a time of 26.08 .Tom Sheehan kept his good form going to win the over 50 for the 2nd time since he turned 50 just 3 weeks ago. Tom laffan also won the over 45s in a time of 22.42.
Also running good times were Derek Driscoll, John and Pat O’Sullivan, Emmet Callan, Dolores Gibbons, Mari Burke, Siobhan O’Regan and Oonagh Sheehan.
