There was a number of Bandon members in action for their colleges at the Irish Universities Track and Field Championships in Waterford on Friday and Saturday.
Phil Healy (UCC) won the 100m sprint and placed 2nd in the 200m. Laura McSweeney (UCC) won the Weight throw for Distance and was 3rd in the Hammer (setting a new UCC record). Patrick McSweeney (UCC) was 2nd in the Shot Putt, 3rd in the Weight for Distance and also placed 5th in the Hammer. He also stepped in for an injured team mate and ran the final leg in the relay final anchoring the team to 7th place.
Roisin Howard (UL) was a very busy athlete over the two days. On Friday she took part in the penthalon where she placed 2nd. She also placed 4th in the Hurdles, 6th in the Weight Throw, 11th in the Discus, 10th in the Hammer, 6th High Jump, 5th Long Jump, 5th Shot Putt.
Mark OSullivan (CIT) was 4th in the SteepleChase. Shane Howard (UL) was 4th in the Weight For Distance.
