At the National Junior and U23 Track & Field Championships today in CIT the weather at time played a part at times with some heavy showers and strong winds mixed in with beautiful sunshine.
In the sprints Phil Healy had an impressive double winning both the 100m and 200m in the U23’s.
Laura McSweeney won the Shot Put and also placed 4th in the Hammer in the Junior Women category.
In the U23 men’s, Patrick McSweeney won Silver in both the Shot Put and in the Weight for Distance as well as placing 4th in the Hammer. Shane Howard was 2nd in the U23 Long Jump as well as placing 7th in the 200m while Mark O’Sullivan was 6th in the 1500m,
In the Junior men’s there was an impressive treble in the throwing events as club members took Gold in 3 of the throwing events. Colin Kingston won the Discus, Bobby Smith won Gold in the Javlin, while David Jennings won Gold in the Weight for Distance, David also placed 9th in the Hammmer and 6th in the Discus.
