The club are hosting an Open Sports on 24th August with a very full program of events. There will be a number of events for Juvenile athletes as well as Junior and Senior athletes. Bandon AC is celebrating 50th years since the founding of the club and as a tribute to sports in bygone years, there will also be 3 cycle races as part of the program which are sure to catch the imagination of the crowd as it will be the first time many will have seen cycle race on grass. Also in attendance will be the Bandon & District Brass and Reed Band who will be entertaining the crowd.
This is a fantastic opportunity to finish the season with good performance and some mouth watering clashes are in prospect with a number of Junior/Senior athletes committed to attending.
There will be cash prizes for all the Junior/ Senior events as well as the cycle races, medals/trophies for the juvenile events. There will also be a raffle on the day with all proceeds going to help defray travel and accommodation costs for Bandon AC member George Waugh, whose son Leon was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Events get going at 12noon with the Juvenile sprints, Junior/Senior events start at 2pm. Full timetable and program of events and also pre-entry for Junior/Senior events are available here
