Well done to all the ladies who took part in this years Evening Echo women’s mini-marathon. This event is the biggest event of its kind in Munster with over 10000 runners and walker taking over the Centre park road, Victoria road and Monahan road in the city.

Michelle Finn of Leevale A.C. won the 4 mile race in a time 21:26 but the real winners on the day were the charities from all over Ireland that use the mini marathon as a major fundraising opportunity. A huge congratulations to Lizzie Lee of Leevale A.C. who ran amazing time of 2:32:51 in the Berlin marathon yesterday. Lizzie’s time is the 5th fastest time for an Irish woman and is just over 9 minutes inside the standard qualifying time for the Rio Olympics.
