Upcoming events

A large number of club members have qualified to represent their schools in the Munster Schools Track & Field Championships on Sat in Waterford so wishing them all the best of luck.
On Sun afternoon, the Cork County Juvenile B Championships is taking place in CIT, this is for athletes who didn’t win an individual medal in the A Championships and can be important stepping stone for younger athletes so wishing them all the best of luck.
Also on Sun, Phil and Joan Healy will be in action at an international Track meeting in Mannheim in Germany, so wishing them the best of luck.

Cork Airport had its share of press photographers during the week with the arrival of the Star Wars crew for filming in West Cork but the real media storm will be this Sun as the world press descends on Cork. The Cork County Masters Track & Field Championships is being contested on Sun in the CIT and about a dozen of Bandon A.C. highly training and focused masters athletes will be in action. These are athletes at the peak of their physical powers with a steely determination to be successful as can be evidenced at training during the week. Comments such as “Ah, you’ll be grand” and “Will there be an ambulance on site?” were being used just to distract any spies in the camp as last minute fine tuning was being done.
Events get underway at 10am with the Hammer with the 200m and Long Jump starting at 10.30.
But all participating athletes are expected to be there much earlier to enable them complete their warmups!

Wishing everyone in action the best of luck.
