BANDON AC COMMITTEE MEETING -FIT4LIFE REPORT JULY 2016
Again a fantastic Month for FIT4LIFE.
1 Member took part in the Drinagh 5K
3 Members took part in the Kilmurray Road Race.
The Dunmanway Road Race organised by Doheny AC was well supported by FIT4LIFE seeing Liz Mills coming 1st in her Category, Mari Burke coming 2nd in her Category and Aoife Gardner coming 3rd in her Category. Overall a very good turnout from Bandon.
The 21st June 2016 saw 7 Members of FIT4LIFE going to Courtmacsherry as part of their usual Tuesday night training and prior to the 10K Road Race on Friday of that week. We ran the entire course and Members had a good idea where to slow down on the course and where to sprint to the finish.
One Member – Mike McKeon competed in the Daniel Kingston 5K Memorial Race on the 23rd June in Macroom.
Courtmacsherry Road Race on the 24th June was again well supported by FIT4LIFE with 12 Members competing on the night. Linda McGuire from the Beginners Group took on her first 10K in Courtmacsherry.
The Waterford Half Marathon on the 25th June was attended by one Member.
Two Members competed in the Colour Dash on Sunday the 26th June in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
I mentioned to FIT4LIFE that we take on the “Make your Mark on Cancer” Walk on the 17th July. This was well received by the FIT4LIFE Members. We are hoping to wear our FIT4LIFE Colours on the day. Proceeds are going to the Mercy University Hospital. We would like if Bandon AC Members could join us for this Event. We were advised that we do not need a Sponsorship Card and that a Group Rate has been put in place for us – which is €20.00 per Person. To take part normally would cost the Individual €25.00.
Some of our Members have asked me could they run this course as some are doing the Killarney Half Marathon and Dublin City Marathon and this does not appear to be a problem as I have checked this with the “Make your Mark on Cancer” Committee.
At the present time, I am taking names of those wishing to take part in this Event as I have been advised that FIT4LIFE Members will need to be pre-registered. All Monies will be collect the week commending the 11th July.
The 1st July saw 6 of our Members taking part in the Ballinascarthy 10K Road Race.
Singlets and T-Shirts have been sorted at this stage with all Members now having received these.
Bandon FIT4LIFE Hoodies were discussed and it was agreed that these Hoodies could remain as Black and Yellow for the FIT4LIFE Group.
This Concludes the Report on FIT4LIFE
