National League

Bandon women’s team were contesting the 2nd round of the Premier Division of the National League today and hoping for a good points return in a bid to make the final, however it was not to be, as unfortunately due to athletes not being available for a number of reasons the club was only able to field a small team.

Roisin Howard who was the team captain led by example with a great run to finish 2nd in the 100m Hurdles which was the first event of the day, she then followed up with strong performances in the 200m and Long Jump as well as helping the 4x100m relay team to 6th place. Laura McSweeney who at just 19 years of age is already a veteran of the National League as this is her 4th campaign and she once again produced the results. She won the Shot Putt and was 2nd in the Hammer.

Rachel Roche also produced good results in the throwing events, placing 2nd in the Javelin and 3rd in the Discus. Carmel Crowley once again produced the goods on the track and scored good points in the 1,500m and 3,000m

Ella Nicholson and Emma Young were making their debuts in the National League and both performed very well and the experience will surely stand to them.

Emma competed in the High Jump and Triple Jump and was also part of the 4x100m relay. Ella competed in the 100m and relay as well as bravely trying the Pole Vault in an attempt to get vital points for the club.
