Mixed fortunes today for sisters Phil and Joan Healy in the AAI Games in Athlone.
Phil was first and second in her 60m races but Joan unfortutunately pulled up with an injury in her second race of the day. With the InterVarsities and the National Seniors coming up in the next two weeks this injury really comes at a bad time for Joan so wishing her a speedy recovery.
Also in action today was Rosin Howard who was 3rd in the Shot Put and in the the 60m Hurdles, she also contested the High Jump where she was 4th.
Dungarvan 10 mile
John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road race 26/01/2014
1600 athletes took to the start line on what now is a very popular 10 mile race. Heavy rain, high winds, sleet, snow and a 15 minute delay did not make the first half enjoyable however the sun came out and the second half was much better. Attracting all the big names including the current Dublin city marathon winner it was always going to be a fast race despite the weather with the first 2 lads under 50 minutes and the first 3 females under 60 minutes .Four runners from Bandon AC went to post. Paddy Murphy and David Craig running big PBs with times of 58.56 and 60.58. Kevin Wilmot and Fergus Wall also ran finishing 56.03 and 59.28.
