On the 6th of April six members of Bandon Athletic Club participated in the National Juvenile Championships held in the newly built Indoor Stadium in Athlone.

The U14 girls relay team consisting of Moira Barrett, Laura Nicholson, Ciara McKeon and Aoife Buckley gave a gutsy performance to come 2nd in their heat, only missing out on a place in the final by one and a half seconds.

Erin Kingston in the U16 girls shot saved her best till last and claimed the silver medal on her 6th and final throw, her first ever National Championship medal.

Another competitor who saved the best till last was James French, a relative newcomer to the sport, who threw an impressive 14.20 metres in the U16 boys shot to clinch the gold by a mere five centimetres.
