A fantastic day of athletics is in prospect on Sunday at the All-Ireland U20 and u23 Track & Field Championships in Tullamore.

A number of club members are in action and there is a strong possibility of the club’s largest ever haul of medals at these championships, so wishing everyone the best of luck on the day and hoping its an enjoyable experience for all.

Well done to Phil Healy who has been selected for the 100m and the 4x100m relay for the 2015 European U23 Championships that will take place in Tallinn, Estonia from the 9th – 12th July.

West Cork Summer League. Reminder the 2nd night of the Summer Leagues is on this Wed night in Dunmanway with a 7pm start.
Events for u9, u11, u13, u15. There will be a sprint, distance race and 1 field event per age group.
The night will finish with the usual mixed relays.
Entry on the gate is €3.

Venue is the Dunmanway Rugby Club which is out the Milleenanannig road (pass the Parkway Hotel on your left about a mile out the road)

Well done to Scott Gibson who was in action at the Junior International in Mannheim over the weekend.
Scott won his heat in the 400m in a time of 48.08 which was the 6th fastest time accross the heats

Congratulation to Mark o Sullivan who ran a personal best in the 5000m at the British milers Grand Prix in Walford England in a time of 14.59.58 over the weekend.

A number of fine performances from Bandon AC members at the Munster Senior & Masters Track & Field Championships in Templemore yesterday.
Patrick McSweeney won Gold in the Shot Putt and Weight Over the Bar, and added Silver in both the Hammer and Weight for Distance events. Bobby Smith won Gold in the Javelin with an impressive throw of 52m. Colin Kingston won Silver in the Discus and just missed out on a medal in the Shot Putt where he finished in 4th place. Danny Allen won Bronze in the 400m and also placed 4th in the 200m.
Laura McSweeney won Silver in the Shot Putt and in the Hammer.
Phil Healy won Gold in the the 100m sprint.
Fiona Everard won Silver in the 1,500m.

In the Masters events, Frank Stam was 2nd in the Discus, 4th in the Weight for Distance and 4th in the Shot Putt

On Sat is the All-Ireland Juvenile Games & All-Ireland Juvenile Combined Events in Tullamore and a number of club members will be competing.

Scott Gibson has been selected to run for Ireland in the 400M and 4x100M National Junior Relay Team at the Bauhaus Junior Gala Mannheim, Germany this weekend 27th, 28th June 2015.
This event in Mannheim is one of the biggest Junior events of the year and should be a fantastic experience for Scott.

The Junior Relay Team are looking to secure the qualifying time of 41.20s for the European Junior Championships being held in Sweden during July.

Well done to Phil Healy who was part of the women’s 4x100m relay team which competed in the European Team Championships in Crete over the weekend.
The relay team finished in 6th place which helped the Irish team to finish overall in sixth position which is the highest ever placing in the European Team Championships.
