Munster Juvenile T&F
On Sat 7th & Sun 8th June some of Bandon ACs younger athletes competed in the Munster U9-U11 team competition and U12-U13 individual competition. Despite the changing weather of sunshine,
thundery showers, thunder and even lightening, there were several personal bests and some fine performances by these athletes.
The U9-U11 group brought home 25 team and individual medals, and also had 4 winning relay teams. The U12-U13 group won 7 individual medals. As the standard was very high, this was a very impressive medal haul for the Club. The athletes medaled in a variety of areas including sprints, distance, relays, long jump, javelin and turbo javelin. It is worth mentioning that Bandon athletes medaled in every age group, from U9 all the way up to U13, in javelin and turbo javelin, resulting in 14 medals in this area alone – a fantastic achievement.
The U9-U11s are in action again on June 21st at the All Irelands in Tullamore. The U12-U13s who qualified will compete in All Irelands in July. A big thank you to all coaches and parents who travelled over the two days. The team spirit was just as evident amongst the adults, with everyone chipping in with gazebos, chairs, tents, tea and jellies, making us all as comfortable as possible – one big happy family! Well done Bandon AC. Full results on Munster Site.
Well done Phil.
At the EAP meet in Geneva, Phil Healy ran a big personal best in the 100m of 11.53 improving on her previous best of 11.63, this time is inside the qualification standard for the European Track and Field Championships in Zurich in August.
Well done to Phil.
Well done Laura
A big well done to club member Laura McSweeney who last weekend competed as part of the Irish team at the World Drug Free Powerlifting Association Single Lift Championships in Dusseldorf.
She competed in the Bench Press and Deadlift and claimed the title of World Champion in her age group in both events and also set a new age group World record in the Deadlift.
Laura got a great reception at training last Wed when she arrived with her trophies.

European Junior Club Championships
Bandon AC has been selected on the basis of last years results in National Junior competitions to send a boys and girls team to compete in the European Junior Club Championship in Portual in Sept.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our young athletes to experience this international event representing our club against clubs from other countries.
There will be a number of fund raising activities to help defray the cost of the trip, so hoping all club members will get involved and support these activities.
First fundraising event will be a Quiz Night on 27th June 9pm at the Rugby Club.
